Restoring black anodizing ... Easy peasy

A few weeks ago I found a nice mod07 wheel but it got damaged in shipment.

I found a random YouTube video from Caswell Plating to repair black anodizing and tried it out as the wheel was too nice despite the anodizing being rubbed off.

Results were excellent as I am a bit OCD about cosmetic things.

They provide a complete kit of a cleaner, acid, and sealer.

It is a simple procedure to clean, then apply the anodizing acid and let it do it's magic to turn the clean raw aluminum to black. Rinse with water to neutralize the acid. Coat it with the included sealer. Looks like it's new again. I have enough left to try to turn my silver rennline pedal covers black now!

Could this kit be used to touch up the anodized trim on my Carrera 3.2?

Wow, very timely - I am trying to figure out what to do with my early engine lid grill. I did not want to try and take it all apart to anodize the vertical bars and screen. This may be the ticket, mask off the silver horizontal bars and essentially paint the etch on...

Thanks for sharing this!
