Where can I get an accelerator cable?
Why is it I cant find an accelerator cable for a 1985 911 anywhere?
I am assuming that the gas pedal is sticking due to the cable ...the car idles at 2K, when I tap on gas it resumes idling normally. |

There is no cable. The throttle is connected with linkage.
If it is sticking check the pedal cluster bushings on the throttle bell crank behind the pedal. There is another set on the transmission just behind the tunnel. And another set of bushings on the console by Cylinder 3 on top of the engine. All these bushings are plastic and swell, degrade and collapse over time.

noticed that if I reach down and pull the gas pedal up it idles properly... guess its the bushing(s) OR
Anyone know how much of a recoil the gas pedal have? do they wear out to the point where it will not recoil, return to the proper position, the pedal can come up and let off the gas? |
