Who is running a tubo engine in their Carrera

Trying to look at all the optons of a new engine in my SC. I have the brakes, cooling, tranny and suspension to take a 300+hp. Who has a turbo tucked into a narrow car and what do you think of the end result.

Why did you go turbo instead of a 3.6? I need your opinons after owning one? I remember there were a half dozen of the cars on list at one time. Thanks!

Blown,

Looks like it all fits underneath a standard Carrera tail??? Did you need to remove the AC? Was it a motor swap or did you Turbocharge your existing motor?

My current project is putting a 3.0 Turbo into a '75 (with the REALLY narrow body). In fact, I'm going to be test fitting the engine into the car for the first time tonight after work...It's going to be a long day

Intercooler won't fit without a turbo tail, but the engine itself should fit into a Carrera. The CIS high-pressure fuel lines and pump will also need to be used. I don't think this is an issue with a 3.6, so it's something to add to the budget.

i have a 3.0 non-intercooled turbo in my 73 speedster with 81 suspension, trans and clutch. light car, real quick and scarey.
also, i have a 3.3 turbo in my 87 cab. the DME and fuel systems had to be retro'd back to run the CIS. luckily, i bought a wrecked 87 turbo, so all the parts were available, and it took a couple of weeks in my spare time to deck it out.

I might add here that JW's Turbo Speedster is a thing of beauty and craftsmanship.
Whenever I visit John's shop, I cast covetous eyes on it!

Hi Mike
No it is a large base Carrera style tail. The regular Carrera tail won't hold a very efficient intercooler. It's too small
