Installing 1979 SC interior - What am I missing?

Hello all,

I’m trying to sort out the mess of interior I have. I purchased my 1979 911 SC with the interior being pretty roughly assembled. I pulled everything out a while ago and now I’m trying to get the interior reinstalled. I plan to use this thread to ask questions along the way. I will update the thread as necessary though the process.

I have done some searching but if there is some information out there that explains all of this, I’d be happy if you could point me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance,
Kelly

Question 3: There are two screws with large washers on my door and there is another threaded hole that doesn't have a screw installed. I haven't been able to determine if these are supposed to be there or of someone previous added them for some reason. Can you confirm if these are OEM or if they are not needed? If OEM, what are they used to secure?

Question 2: There are three screws for the bottom of the door pocket, but I see there are two holes in each of the three areas. Why is that? The previous owner installed tapping screws instead of machine screws in the original holes used and I'm considering using the other hole to secure the bottoms of the door pockets with the correct machine screws.

Question 1: **ANSWERED** How are door pockets mounted? A couple of the screw placements are obvious (rear and at the door handle itself) but the ones along the bottom and the front seem to be less obvious to me. I see a bracket mount available - are these used by bolting to the door and then mounting the pocket to it? Pictures of my door and the bracket mentioned attached. ANSWERED

That’s the wrong bracket. I have a 79 as well, this is what you need:

It goes in the lower front of the pocket, here:

A screw attaches it to the door handle, plus a screw at the back of the pocket which goes into the rear brace for the pocket lid;

Then screws along the underside of the pocket, which go into the door frame through the siding

Thank you very much. That was very helpful.

So I’m assuming one of those blocks per door, correct (just in the front), correct?

Also, do the screws along the bottom go into the door on an angle (upward) or do they go in perpendicular to the door card?

Here are some shots of the door on my 1978SC:

At the left hand end there is a hinge for the door pocket flap. Hope this helps.
