What do people think of all the gatherings? (expressions)

How do the other people that are not driving Porsche's feel seeing dozens of Porsche cars gathering and cruising along the roads? (phew, long sentence)

Here in Finland one rarely sees more than a few Porsches every now and then. Actually, this spring the only 911 I have seen has been my own.

It must a helluva sight to see many 911's cruising, surely would like to see the expressions on peoples faces.

People here seem to like the looks of my car, because where ever one goes, people seem to stare. Little kids usually point out my car and older people just look. What I was surprised about the other day, was that I got thumbs up from a Corvette driver. Felt good

Have to wear sunglasses most of the time, because I can't help but laugh and smile when people stare. Gotta get those flaps that horses have beside their eyes that they only see forward

After not seeing so much as ONE other 911 in 18 months of living in "Whoop-whoop" Northern Australia, I was tickled pink on Saturday when I took my car for a decent drive in it's new town and ran into TWO other 911s. I think we were all a little amazed ourselves and didn't think for a second what others where thinking! Must have looked pretty cool though....

Much the same where I live. Almost everytime I drive. Today during refuel a lady walked by the car and mde a special comment. "what year is it", "looks beautiful" I always can't wait to say the number off the production line in 1969. I get waves everyday. My favorite sometime back is, "nice ride".

I've never seen an early Porsche around here but mine. I have seen some late models however.

There is also a neighbor who walks his dog, and comments on my Porsche all the time. One of my favorites was when he said, "it looks great, and even better moving."

Hi John

Good to see your back on the board.

How's the new town been treating you?

This is abit off topic but , my car is still at the panel shop having the front end painted. I have now purchased that truck diaphram for the sporto. When I get my car back I will hassle you about it then.

Back to this topic I love to see gathering's of porsches or even one porsche for that matter. I was up at Tamworth on the weekend and didn't see one on the road in 3 day's . I had withdrawals.

Here's a post from the 914 board, when 6 of us 911 guys showed up at their 9:14 breakfast get-together:

G'day JK
Yeah, Toowoomba isn't too bad. Speaking to a few people here it would seem that there may be up to ten 911 in town. I look forward to seeing every one!

No problem with the gearbox thing. Try and get your hands on a digital camera if you don't already have one. Photograph everything and that way I can ID stuff for you and tell your mechanic what I did.

Post some pictures of your cars' new paintwork when you get a chance.

Sorry for hijacking your thread Zen

Unforturnately, in HongKong, sport cars are a dime a dozen, so its no big deal. Just waiting at the bus station after work today, a stripped out Porsche 993 GT2 and a Lambo Murielargo (spell) drove by. What

It's a rare occurence to see another 911 around here, too. In fact, I had my 1st encounter with another 911 a couple weeks back. I was on the Interstate, cleared a snag in traffic and had a clear road for a couple of miles. Accelerated up to about 125MPH, then backed it down to about 95 when I look in my mirror and see something gaining on me big time!! It was an SC. He caught up and we cruised in formation at about 110 for a few miles - fun stuff!! -- Curt

Like Jeff says, they're a dime a dozen around around here...still when you get 40+ together once a month and go for a 'cruise', with the sound rocketing and reverbing off city buildings its still somewhat jaw dropping - I just love watching the rubber necks as we cruise on by sometimes

On this morning, I just couldn't take one pciture that fited them all in Nice problem but....

Cheers
Mark

The other drive we do is with my small club. We get people staring I think because of the diversity of machinery. 911, 964, 993, 996.

Mind you, the stares turn to disapproval when the two turbo's wind up, man they're loud.

And in that mob, Mark "you're" the only one having the "real" fun - top down.
Great Pic's. (how's the shift feel now?)

Sean - aint that the truth - top down be it a car or a woman is mucho funo!

Shifting is real tight with new bushes. I broken one of the flexible coupling bolts so replaced both bolts with some standard bolts while waiting on order for new ones. I compressed the flexible coupling with the cheapo bolts and the shifting is real direct - no flex at all. Feels tight. I now have the stock bolts and intend to put them in and see the difference. I still wonder whether having compressed the flexible coulping could do any damage anywhere

Cheers
Mark

That's more than all the 911's in my town. And I have two of them .

I love the gatherings. My wife says I'm like a kid in a candy store.
