				1971 911T turn signals

Turn signals don't work (either left or right) but 4-way flasher works fine. Could it still be the flasher relay? Or do I need to take the steering wheel assembly off to check the contacts. Fuses are all ok. Thanks

Check the 6 pin plug for the turn signals wiring under the dash is tight.

When this happened on my 1978SC it was the fuse (#11 I think); the fuse was intact but the ends were corroded.

BTDT. The ends will burn on the fuses. Use a volt meter to check for continuity.

It's also worth noting that on my 1978SC the hazard switch is powered through fuse #17 which is always hot which means the hazard lights will work with the ignition off. Fuse #11 is hot only when ignition is on. And on my car the brake lights are also fused through #11 and they weren't working either which was a big clue that the fuse was corroded. Strangely both Haynes and Bentley say brake lights fused through #15, but I go by what it says on the fuse cover. Check your fuse cover to see what the fuses do.

				problem solved

Thanks for the help. When it was pointed out that the flasher works without the ignition being on, that really pointed me back to the fuses. I had checked them all (easy to do as they are the old open type), but now I took the fuse out for the blinker. While the fuse element was intact, the end had broken off. See picture. Replaced it and now all good.

Glad you found the problem. I had the same problem but it was only when I noticed that the brake lights weren't working either that I found the fuse to be corroded. I had a lot of wiring from past alarms etc under the dash and took the opportunity to tidy all that up to the other side of the bulkhead. Quite a big job but so much better and was able to throw away various obsolete components that previously I didn't dare touch in case the alarm and central locking stopped working. It was only once I had cleared all the old wiring that I could get at the hazard switch. The indicators failed while I was out in the car and had to drive back giving hand signals and would have been even more concerned had I realised that the brake lights weren't working either!
