Backdated Gauges

Doing an interior refresh on my 71T and decided to do the gauges in green with white needles. I had the green color matched to a factory 356 gauge for a custom gauge I was building for another Pelican and really liked the look so I made a set for myself. I still need to do a green-faced AFR gauge for the clock spot but so far I really like the way they look.

It's hard to take pictures of the gauges in the car... but here they are.

These look very, very nice. I also like the voltmeter in the normal boost pressure spot.

I do wonder what they look like illuminated. Is there any chance you can post a nighttime photo?

Fyi, I had a Saab with green markings/numerials and orange-red needles. That always struck me as the easiest to read (and nicest looking) automotive gauges I had ever seen.

I did them. I've been building custom gauges for my cars for a few years now and recently been doing a few for Pelican members. Trying not spend all my time building gauges but happy to build a few for the members. It takes about 7-10 days after all the artwork is nailed now.

backdate

are you still doing these conversions. I have an 86 911 backdated to a 74. Would you be interested in converting them?

Beautiful work, John. I like that you used the aluminum brushed center caps on the gauges for early cars too.

John Bell is great to deal with and does amazing work. He just backdated all of my gauges with a bunch of custom features and they came out great.

John has recently done a dozen + gauges for me. Some stock, some very custom. A green triple gauge and a green electronic speedo that looks like it came from a SWB car. Amazing work, reasonable prices and great to work with. Turn around was much quicker than I expected. Weeks, not months.

Great work John,

I've always found taking the outer bezel off to be the biggest challenge as they always seem to get damaged. Do you simply replace the bezel after or do you have a method or tool for bezel removal?

John even changed the odometer reset on the electric speedo to a cable like the early cars instead of a face mounted knob. Made a disk to fit the extra digit of the later odometer. First class work.
