Torsion Bar Cover broken
I am looking for a new Torsion bar cover ...I have searched our host, only to see where he No Longer handles for the 80SC. I have the original cover but as you can see from the attachment the screw is broken off short. Any help on finding a new cover? or what is the fix for the old cover?

Bob,
If you have the remaining threads, you may be abe to tack weld the broken pieces together. The break is soo close to the cover, the securing bolt will not need to thread that far, you should be fine. Worth a shot, alot easier than ordering a new piece and getting it painted to match.

This may sound really janky, but isn't that screw covered by the rubber trim??? If so, and purely just a suggestion for the temporary cosmetic repair.....drill it out and put a screw in from the outside. Could even use a small carriage bolt if you've got nibbler to make the hole square.
I know, I know, it's not perfect, nor correct, but if you want to drive the car without having the whole piece missing.....there you go.

The screw is in the middle of the cover and after looking at the cover and the rubber trim I am thinking you may be right. I will have to see what it looks like. I am still wondering who sells these covers besides going to Porsche and paying up the nose. Does anyone have the Porsche Part Number?

Try Parts Heaven, I'm sure they've got some nice used ones. Usually real good to deal with too.

If you have the fender guards/"shark fins" it will hold the cover in place even without the screw. If you order some, note that there are 2 flavors: one for Carrera fenders and one for Turbo fenders.
