Question Q. tips on renewing wires running through to the door?

Was working behind the dashboard and noticed a brown/white ( earth? ) pair of wires that seem to run up from the hole leading from the door compartment. ( i.e. from door, through the wing and then into area behind the dash )

the outer plastic was worn away in places so I applied some electrical tape as a temporary fix.

Any tips on how to get to the start and end of these cables - that run from door to the space behind the dashboard?

THnx

are you replacing the wires? My Targa had old door speakers and I was able to grab those same wires...they led up to alarm(!) LED's right by the lock button....I taped up the old wires to new wires(really well!!) and gently pulled them thru the hole...theres no way to reach the hole from inside(mine anyways) because of sheet metal....If the door panel is uncut, Im sorry I cant help you!

I think the wires go through a grommet at the front of the door and then through a PITA grommet hidden behind the fender into the interior, and have a pre-fit plastic sleeve around them. The fender grommet might have to be cut out carefully and replaced with another. One of these companies may have some leads for a new one.

If all else fails, some good adhesive silicone caulk will keep the hole from whistling.

You may be able to use a fish tape that most electricians use to pull wires through openings in walls
