915 transaxle rebuilder in NE Florida ?
I was pulling my 3.0 SC engine and trans to replace with a 3.4 when I noticed a long crack in the diff housing. It extends from the bottom of the housing up and into the carrier bearing bore. So, looks like new diff housing and refresh of the trans now as well. I've had the car for 6 years, but I'm just now getting to tend to it. Unfortunately, this is an undisclosed surprise.
Looking for a reputable rebuilder. I'm in St Augustine Beach, so Northeast Florida and down to the Daytona/Orlando corridor would be good. I'm not crazy about shipping it..............yet. Thanks !

You sure it's a crack and not a casting flaw?

Unfortunately, it's definitely a crack. Oil leaking from it and clearly not casting flash.

Tell me, how can a gearbox that has a crack like that still function at all? Even if its not losing fluid, one would think that the bearing supports, under torque, would simply not work.

Get a cooler, put the transmission in it, with some packing material, and ship it to the place of your choosing. There are several good places for that. Do a search on this site. They will even show the ice chest and how to pack it.

I do not. I manufacture gears and LSDs and other transmission parts.
