When I did the first alt. rebuild on my MFI 73 T, the alt. I removed was a Valeo.
I was the second owner when I purchased the car in 1979, so I can't guarantee that is what the factory put in it.

If you have the old alternator, just get it rebuilt. Brand should not matter much. Have them replace the bearings and al components that need it.

If you don't have the old one, just call Pelican and give them your VIN and they get you the proper alternator. Unless you are building some 100 point Concours car and there is some reason to have the same brad of alternator, it does not matter.

Agree, it is best to rebuild your unit. There is a possibility that it could be the Motorola/SEV Marchal or a Bosch unit.

Also I would highly recommend replacing your voltage regulator with a new solid state unit.

agree on rebuild.. A few years back I went to replace mine, a local foreign parts house matched my year model etc and the alternator did not fit, returned it they sent another that did not fit, luckily i had not returned the core so i just had it rebuilt and that was 5 or more years ago.
