Glasurit Porsche Historical Paint Color Database Now Complete

Just thought I'd share...

http://www.glasurit.com/Glasurit/News/Porsche_colours.html

Here's the search tool:

http://www.glasurit.com/COLOR/new-color-online/m1frameset.php?language=1

Very cool. Hopefully I can find someone around here locally that can order the Glasurit stuff. Looks like I need Glasurit 55 for color #336, so my next errand is to find someone locally who can actually get it...

Cool site. Not sure what happened to Coral Red from '92. My car was painted Coral Red from the factory with I assume Glasurit paint, but the site does not list Coral Red as a color.

Anybody know where I can order the Glasurit 90 line paints? I've searched around on the internet and haven't been able to find it.

Great resource! I'm a bit confused, looked at Viper Green and got 4 very different codes for the same model years!

PORSCHE VIPERGRUEN 038 1972-1973
PORSCHE VIPERGRUEN 225 1972-1973
PORSCHE VIPERGRUEN 3810 1972-1973
PORSCHE VIPERGRUEN 3838 1972-1973

Signal Orange gave me theses - (E2 is the Auxillary Code, whatever that is)

PORSCHE SIGNAL ORANGE 014 E2 1972-1975
PORSCHE SIGNAL ORANGE 116 E2 1972-1975
PORSCHE SIGNAL ORANGE 1410 1970-1973
PORSCHE SIGNAL ORANGE 1414 1970-1973

Supplier I found in the US on Google but it is for the base mixing paints- http://www.carpaintdepot.com/categories.php?cat=2&PHPSESSID=5954f82fa0ccbe1c7c05e5e9aba2317a

Here is the US info from Glasuit's site, looks like BASF owns them.

Scooter,

'coral red' is 'korallenrot' in german and listed as metallic,
'guards red' is 'signalrot'.

If a color search lists more than one color code, you may select
a color line (e.g line 55) and then display the mixture. For
'indischrot' I found that all three codes have the same
mixture.

I'll have to look again, but I didn't see where the mixture was located. With the mixture I can order the tints online and mix a gallon myself if it comes to that..

Yes it can be very confusing. However for Signal orange:
116 is Porsche's color number, and the code used from 1972 to 1983
14 is the color code used in 1970 & 1971
-- 1414 is the code for a coupe & 1410 is the code for a targa
-- think of it as body & roof where 10 is black for the targa roof
E2 is the Auxillary Code, or marketing-speak for code 14, thus
-- E2E2 is the code for a coupe & E2V9 is the code for a targa
-- Auxillary Codes were never stamped on the car, but are often found on a COA
014 is essentially incorrect and is really the same as 14 just too many digits

for Viper Green:
225 is Porsche's color number, and the code used from 1972 to 1983
38 is the color code used in 1970 & 1971
I have not found the Auxillary Code for this color.

Signal Orange 914

Interesting. When I do the Glasurit search for all models Porsche, Signal Orange, I also get code 20E. L20E is what my own research turned up for my 1974 914. The samples on the Glasurit site look identical for the code 116 and 20E.

I ordered what Microfinish/automotivetouchup.com calls Signal Orange for all models. I specified the L20E code, but they sent the 116, and it didn't match. It was quite a bit more yellow than I needed.

Their name for code L20E is Amber. I may give that a try in desperation.
