May 2-4 Monterey Calif. R Gruppe "Rally de Monterey"
Best collection of early 911 hot rods on the west coast, Period! Over 100 cars the last two years. All in one spot. The show and shine, a no q-tip event will be Saturday. Get there on Thursday and watch everyone come into town. Bring a good cigar or two, if you wish a beverage of choice, a lawn chair, your in public manners, roll your pant legs up and come on down. (Cutis A. We have your lawn chair in the truck already big guy, your locked in.) I hear there might be up to a dozen 1973 911 RS's, these are the real deal cars if ya' love RS's. Some folks call an early car with flares and a duck tail, clones. I call our cars "911 Outlaws" or even "Hot Rods", never ever please, clones. Ugly word, ugly word. A few of the guys like period correct sports purpose mods and keep every thing close to factory for sports purpose orders. Some of us go a lit-t-t-t-t-t-tle further. VERY few of the cars with flares and a duck tail are period correct copys of RS cars. Most have their little added extras that make their owners happy. The fun part is to see how each guy handles the same problems. Example, running two CD boxes for dual plugged motors. Where do you mount the boxes. To me it is interesting to see how diffent minds solve the same problem. Check out more info at www.rgruppe.org So who is comming to Monterey? Randy Jones 1971 911 |

I'm coming all the way from Indiana for the "Rally". Wolfturbo (Rob) invited me several weeks back, I rearranged some things and booked a flight to San Jose. Can't wait to see all the cool cars and put some faces with names from the Pelican board.
I will be flying in on Thurs. evening around 6:00pm local time and have rented a car, but if I could hitch a ride with someone coming from there or further North it would be a lot more fun. Could someone bring an extra lawn chair, I don't think I can fit one in my carry on bag ![]()

Randy, I'm going to TRY to do a quick fly-in fly-out. Got a bunch of stuff scheduled right around that week, but I'm really hoping to squeeze it in! If I come, should I bring my camera?

I'll be there!! It is one of the highlights of the year for me. Even mini-outlaws (or micro) like me are welcome, that is the best part!

Maybe this year I will make the trek from Colorado to be with these kindred spirits. Too many dang SC pilots in my region for my liking. The drive to Monterrey and back in my 911 would be very memorable. Wavering...

R Gruppe event logo
guys I thought I'd share this with you all. This year's R Gruppe event logo which captures the flavor of the Monte Carlo Rally.
This logo was designed by Freeman and a couple of his friends, Frank Saucedo and Steve Anderson who all works in the design studios of So. Cal. This will be our logo which will be available for our hood event logo and decal. They also came up with a different design for our T-shirts and hats this year. But i can't give that away as it'll spoil the surprise. Lets just say that its a one color theme (silver) and has the outline of the flat six engine. That's all I'm gonna tell you guys. Reminder, also for those of you who have not sent in your entry forms, please get them to me ASAP. I need to get a good head count of all the registered participants. Entry fee is $50 and details of the event can be found in the r gruppe website. I also have one room that became available at the headquarters hotel at Comfort Inn. Its a 3 nites minimum for Fri, Sat and Sun. The rates is the $99.00 special gruppe discount rate. Contact me via e-mail if you're interested in booking this room. Get those entry forms in guys. There will be a late fee after April 27 and it'll cost you an additional $25. Looking forward to seeing all of you in 3 weeks. Godspeed, Cris Huergas R Gruppe #2 ![]() |

also thank you to Jack Olsen
the lower portion of the logo with the R GRUPPE letters done in the PORSCHE font was an idea that Jack Olsen came up with sometime last year. Freeman after seeing it decided to use it with the Rallye Monterey logo. So thanks also goes to R Gruppe member #162 for his idea.
