Question early experts...should my '73 have these???

A guy at O'Daniels was surprised that my car had these sunroof drains. He said they were used on pre-70 cars. Any truth to this? There weren't any early cars with sunroofs to compare with. Here is a pic of the drain.

My 73E has the sunroof drains coming out inside the engine lid hatch lip. They drain into the upper left and right corners far enough to the side they are outside of the engine lid seal and the water (in theory) runs under the edge of the lid.

I hope that makes sense and helps.

I've seen those on cars that have had the roof "clipped". Any evidence of the roof being replaced at some time?

My 73 has two drain holes right under the top corners of the deck lid and two in the front door jambs outside the door seals.

My 73 also has the drains in the top corners of the deck lid and in the door jambs. Seems odd yours has them?

Definitely not original for '73. I can't think of anything other than your car got re-roofed. It didn't start life as a Targa did it? (Decode your chassis number or look for some of the telltale chassis braces exclusive to Targas). Otherwise, it likely had crash or pervasive rust damage. Unfortunately, it would be really hard to find proof of re-roofing without stripping paint on the outside or ripping up upholstery/headliner and paint on the inside.

Shawn, I also don't think this is original for a 73.

I had the rear of the headliner out when we welded in the rear seat panel. It looked completely original. My VIN# would have the info if it is a targa or not won't it? I will run out and get it.
Okay VIN# 9113100684

That's a coupe, Shawn. But those are the earlier-style drains.

I don't wanna say this but...is it possible that there has been tampering with the VIN number? I mean if its from some other car?

Where do I find all the chassis #'s and what not to verify someone hasn't monkeyed with the VIN#.

the VIN stamped into the body is on the left side just above the gas tank.I'd be more specific but I can't remember any more than that.
