9.8 times around the world.....

Just passed 244,000 miles on my car. Hard to believe it's still running great.
Original engine that has never been out of the car and even still has the dreaded Thermal Reactors on the engine!

These cars are fantastic......

Thermal reactor still on and no major issues? Wow. Are you the original owner? Are you sure the thermal reactors haven't been hollowed out?

How long have you owned this car? This car has the magnesium crankcase and susceptible to pulled cylinder head studs. It is unbelievable that the motor has not been out ever. If this is true, you are the luckiest person with a 911.

Neighbor bought the car in '77, my dad bought from him in '81, dad let me have it in '00 so I've "known" this car it's entire life.

Here's a picture of the car at Lake Lanier in GA.....

Thermal Reactors are not hollowed out and still attached.

Hey fanaudical,
Is hollowing out Thermal Reactors something that is done?

They were designed to make the car run hotter to pass emissions testing in the US. I guess it worked because all that have these run hot.

I've always wanted to remove them but due to their age didn't want have the bolt issues and wasn't sure what to replace them with.

Thanks

That is a lot of miles on a great car. I turned 177,000 miles this weekend on a 450 mile round trip to Robber's Cave state part. I have a long way to go to get to your mileage.

Geneman........it certainly sounds like something from a steam engine.

Here's a picture of mine.
