Well it looks like a 30mm fitting.. Could be for a thermostat or maybe 72 oil system

Might be a 935 part? With an O ring in that groove it might fit into one of the cylinder head/valve cover area oil return holes in the crank case. The cylinder head area was drained by a Y tube into just one of the holes on the left side. The cylinder out on the tab looks like it fits over an 8mm stud to hold things in place. The oil pump for this system was modified to have a second scavenge outlet through the nearby hole. Can't say I know of a stud in that vicinity to do this, but drilling and tapping aren't hard to do.

Fitting ID

When you order a replacement 964 engine case, they don't come with threads in the case for the original oil inlet supply fitting. This fitting slip fits into a 993 case but retains the threads externally for your supply oil line.
