Radio Repair

Who is doing radio repairs these days?

swstereo.com points to a 500 server error so I'm guessing he isn't in business anymore...

I've got two Blaupunkt SQR 23 Monterey's that I'd like to have fixed up with bluetooth added.

I took the easy route and bought a cassette Bluetooth adapter for my SQR 26 Charleston.

I also have a corded cassette adapter with a standard 3.5 mm audio jack.

I used to have a Porsche CDR-220 in my 911 but decided to go back to the original for a variety of reasons.

These folks recently repaired my BP Reno. They're timely and fair.
I recognize they're not exactly close to you, but they do exist, so you can contact them and make your best judgment.
I have no dog in this fight.

Thanks Sy1jord! Anyone ever work with Vintage Blau? They are about an hour away from me. I'm having a hard time getting in touch but would rather drop off the radios than ship to CA.

About two years ago, I bought a Monterey SQR23 on eBay with non-operative cassette deck. Sent it out to German Auto Radio Repair (Hernan Acosta) in N. Hollywood, CA. He did a great job in getting it working again and was very reasonable. Not sure if he's still in business, but I can certainly recommend him if he is.

Quick update - Igno at Vintage Blau doesn't work on the Monterey anymore. I'll check out Creative Car Audio and German Auto Radio Repair.

Thanks!

I would second Herman Acosta in North Hollywood. He restored my '70's era Blaupunkt like new.

Spoke with the gent over at Creative and he seemed very professional and knowledgeable. Free evaluation of what repairs are needed and he is turning around full mechanical repairs in about 7 business days from a start work order.

He does say that cosmetic parts are very hard to come by for the Monterey radios so he can do some restoration if your radio isn't in terrible cosmetic shape but that significant cosmetic restoration can be challenging.

Also can add Bluetooth modules if desired.

I shipped mine off yesterday and will report back with my experience and results in a few weeks.

Blaupunkt repair.

There is a shop in Santa Barbara CA that did some work for us.

Fair price, great service.

Good luck,

Gerry
