FINALLY! The 911 SC that found me

Well after many months of waiting and wondering if the pieces would come together we picked up a 83 911 SC yesterday. It’s a crazy set of circumstances. A lady bought the car in 1988. Due to health issues, she parked it in 2004 and it was never driven again. She kept it in her garage until she passed away in 2016. Her estate owed some money at her death. The only asset of the estate was the car. One lawyer involved knew I like old Healeys, MGs and Triumphs so they inquired if I was interested. I had 5 photos to work from and I made an offer sight unseen. No one in the family wanted it or wanted to try to sell it for more. The creditor didn’t want to deal with it so they accepted my $10,000. offer. But no one had the title, so more months went by. Finally we got it yesterday and I can’t believe what a great car.

What an interesting story - congratulations on your purchase! That's a great price, what kind of condition is it in?

Trying to post photos

The car had seats heavily mildewed. No rust at all except a little in the battery area. 69,000 miles. Paint and rubber in excellent condition. Now the work on bringing it back to life begins. Gas tank and fuel lines etc. Lots of good advice here.

You have to take iphone pics with the phone sideways and volume buttons facing down. Then they will show up properly on Pelican.
If you forget to turn the camera, you can turn the photo with the EDIT as needed while its still in your photos file and before sending it to Pelican.

Hope these photos post ok.

So on with the story now that the photos are figured out. We went to pick up the car Saturday, another great thing was it was near Winston-Salem, N.C., which is only one hour from my house. What we didn't know was that the keys were lost..sooooooo that meant that the steering wheel was locked. Instead of a quick load of about an hour, it took us about three hours trying to get the car to turn onto our trailer in a sort of curve. I'm so blessed to have a beautiful wife who loves these adventures too as she was a great help trying to figure it out. Thankfully the tires held air once we pumped them up. I've never ever seen a house with a double garage that was built without doors, thus the accumulation of years of leaves under the car.

More photos

We spent all day yesterday cleaning the mildew and washing this beauty. The paint is almost perfect. I at least thought after sitting in a well used garage for years that there would be numerous scratches and dents but..nope!

Nice find! Sweet shop! As part of your plan to get it running I would drop the lower valve covers and check for broken head studs. Have fun with your new project.

absolutely check for critter nests behind the fan!
useful thing is a smartphone endoscope.
otherwise pull fan and inspect by yourself what's unter the engine shroud.

Funny about nests

Yep had a nest behind the fan. Thankfully not bad. This is my first Porsche and second air cooled car. I had a VW Karmann Ghia in the 70s. I'm looking forward to turning this one into a daily driver.

Congratulations! May you drive it in good health. These cars often have rust in the battery area, especially under battery tray and on the front suspension pan. Check to see if there is rust around the front torsion bar mounts from the underside, especially on the driver side.

Like others have said...show the goods!!!
