Looking for CIS master in the Columbus, OH area
Hey everybody, I’m Elan and I have a ‘78 911SC which I’ve owned for a bit over a year now (pictured with my buddy’s 996 C4, if it successfully uploads). I’ve been using the forums for the entirety of my ownership to diagnose and fix things. I’ve gone though and replaced all braking components apart from the pedal cluster and hard lines (car sat for a while, so all seals were bad). I have S-calipers up front, which I sent to PMB for refurbishing, because of forum suggestions. Very happy with the results and very happy with the knowledge contained here.
That being said, I’ve been able to find answers to just about everything I need, but now I’m trying to diagnose a hot-start issue I’m having. I’ve searched and read a lot of CIS troubleshooting articles, including the one for dummies. However, I would just like some hands-on guidance if possible. I’m located in the Columbus, OH area, specifically Dublin. If anybody lives around here & is willing to share a bit of expertise, I’d love to meet up. My pressure kit isn’t great and the gauge seems to be failing or sticky, but I’ll post my numbers anyways. 1978 911SC US market with a low mileage engine (about 4K on the rebuild) 045 WUR All tests done with engine cold (didn’t start it, which is why the “warm” control mislead me, though I understand the WUR has a heating element active with voltage applied) All tests were also double checked 18C ambient conditions System pressure - 4.7 bar Cold control pressure - 2.0 bar “Warm” control pressure - 3.0 bar (3 mins time) And this is where I’m not sure if the gauge gets funky or if my accumulator is bad: 2.1 bar immediately after pump switched off 0.75 bar after 5 mins 0.3 bar after 15 mins 0 bar after 20 mins Super side note: does anybody know where to get bitter chocolate/cockney brown paint mixed up? Code 408, I’ve tried to get a quart mixed from many places, to no avail. ![]() |
