Maxilite wheels.

What do you guys think of Maxilite wheels?

I'm thinking of a pair of 8" sixteen inch wheels for the back of the SC and putting the Fuchs 7"s on the front. Standard tire configuration.

I know they are a bit heavier than the real deal, but they are a lot cheaper for us poor people. I don't think I'd notice any performance degradation?

There is a company in France called Rose Passion dot com who still sells Euromeister wheels in both 16" and 17" rim sizes with proper offsets, and multiple finishes. I preferred them as the barrel lip was closer to the original Fuchs. Maxilites have a 'stepped' vs. sloped/diagonal profile. They were very reasonable for the set... ~$1050 plus VAT for the set and very good quality. I received them within a week of order. You will get more tire sizes with 17's, plus a little more wheel (9" rear and 7.5" fronts. They really fill out the wheel well nicely, and I was able to get 255's on the rear with 225's on the front with no rubbing on my '86 Coupe. Added about 4lb per wheel over stock 15" Fuchs, running Conti DWs, which was tolerable as I'm not tracking the car. I really didn't notice a huge difference in performance... difference of having another smaller person riding with me in feel.

not forget: 17s and tires is a good load more of unsprung weight.
unless the 17 are true and light BBS

245/45 tires for a 9x16 already weight between 10.5/11.5 kg (plus the rim).

7 and 8x16 are just perfect for SC/Carrera

Maxilite wheels

Is anyone running these on the track? If so how about some feedback.
Thanks!

Not so fast there

Here's one example of a 71 set that's more efficient and will provide a far better handling car, yes the 17" wheels are ha bit heavier but that isn't the only or even a critical feature, Tire OD is more important and here gives the 17s a~3.5lb-ft edge over the 16s
