Keeping Trans In Shape

A few semi-random thoughts:

- Take the time to get your clutch properly adjusted. Know what that feels like and re-adjust as required to keep that feel.

- Replace all plastic components in your shift linkage when you do the trans rebuild / refresh. Realize these parts will break down sooner than the components in your trans.

- Learn the things your trans doesn't like and avoid them. For example, if in neutral sitting at a light / stopped - clutch in, move shifter to 2nd and then to first to avoid first gear grind. One of a few tricks out there...

Lastly - drive to enjoy it and avoid too much concern over how your shifting impacts longevity. If you shift reasonably well - it will probably last more miles than most of our cars will see these days.

Good luck,
