Bullet hole. Heard from the previous owner that he caught a man trying to steal his car. He was leaning over under the dash with his legs on the passenger side, The owner shot down between his legs through the floor.

That molar might be someones crown that fell out. Old guys lose them all the time. ;)

I found a diamond ring under the carpet in my 69S in the 80s. The rock was so big I figured it was a fake so I threw it in my tool box where it rattled around for a few years until the wife spotted it. I told she could have it if it was real. She took it to the jewelers and it turned out to be a genuine 1.75 carat stone!

LOL, that was the only way to make money on longhoods in the 80s :D

Wish I found a diamond ring instead of some dead hooker's tooth...

Oh it's a real tooth alright, you can still see the inside where it has broken. The tooth is broken in 2. I agree with another poster though that it may be a child tooth.

Found the name of a former owner that had the car in Vermont for at least 15 years, tried to contact him. Who knows there might be more to that story!

One of my friends bought a 1978 930 at a federal government auction. It was some drug dealer's car the feds had seized.

A few years later he was working in the trunk and found several Krugerrands. He just put them in his safety deposit box.

All I ever found in my 911 was dirt, and a crappy power amp that I removed and trashed. After 25 years of ownership there is no part of the car I have not had my hands on.

What appeared to be 3 ordinary sticks of gum in the wrappers turned out to be cocaine.
They were neatly placed in one of those 15 packs. Juicy fruit if I remember.

An absolutely true statement.

Around 2010, about 10 years after buying my '88 Carrera, under the driver's seat I found what appeared to be a McDonald's french fry. Since I had never eaten french fries in my car it must have been at least 10 years-old! It didn't look too different from a "fresh" McDonald's fry! No, I did not eat it.

Found eight bottles of Jose Cuervo and one bottle of Bacardi in a 72 VW bus I restored. They were in a secret compartment between the frame and floorboard and wrapped in the San Antonio newspaper dated May1989.

Daughter showing off the stash and dreaming of her 21st birthday.

Back of a Cuervo and Bacardi bottle in place where we found it after we removed a cover plate and scraped away the mud and rotten newspaper.

This topic deserves its own internet site with a library of lost and found car contents.

To make it interesting, public comments would be welcomed to fill in those found object’s back stories.

I didn't "find" the kilo of weed, but neither did the FBI.
They don't call it a smugglers box for nothing.

I actually found a family member related to the van. He said his mom would use the van to smuggle stuff into Mexico, guns, ammo etc.. for hunting. She loved to drink and would smuggle booze back into the US on the return trip. 9 bottles in the belly and 2 that were permitted that she would declare. Back then almost any bottle of liquor was $ 1 in Mexico.

I asked why they never recovered it from the van. He recalled that in the early part of summer 1989 mom got sick, probably drank the water?, and went into the hospital. She recovered but one of the outcomes was she could never drink again so she probably lost interest in that last haul.

They drove the van for another at least 5 years because the last inspection/registration was 1994. Which explains why it was packed with mud.

Needless to say, since all VW vans get named, it became Jose.

This is how it turned out.

I found a broken fake nail in my 89. And an SF bridge token. Cali car originally, bought in NY in 2001.

I bought a consignment car that belonged to Senator Pelosis husband. very early 90s. - it had 39 miles on it when I purchased, I mention this because he lost a lot of money on the car and under the passengers seat was a very expensive bottle of wine that had to have been there with delivery. I thought then as I do every time I see her on TV today- ya sure you are worried about the poor little guy who cannot make ends meet. Still have the car, wine long ago consumed.

Found a sports mouth guard and an orange that had shriveled up to the size of a golf ball. Had a green tinge so must have had a funky smell after the fresh citrus smell had faded.

I found a pretty nice solid gold woman's earring in a 914 one time and lots of old wheat pennies under the rubber mats in old VW bugs.

pmax 11-24-2020 08:13 PM
