Oil in Airbox - not overfilled

Hi all,

I discovered oil in my airbox today. All research and forum posts point to overfilling the oil tank but when I measure the oil level (warm engine, running idle, level surface), I am actually on the lower side.

For additional context, I've also been struggling with intermittent loss of power and an excessive engine shudder.

Anyone have any idea how I am getting oil in the airbox? Could worn rings and blowby cause this? I've never seen any smoke.

Thanks in advance!

According to your profile car is an 83 SC
What oil type are you running?
Is there a restrictor in your vent tube from oil tank?
CIS? Or modified?

Thanks for the response - apologies for failing to provide that context.

Stock CIS configuration.
Unsure on current oil it is running, had a shop do a quick tune up when I purchased it and was about to drive 16 hours home. I am coming up on the next oil change and will likely run with the factory spec.
Also unsure if there is a restrictor in the oil tank vent tube, is there an easy way to check?

hmm - that wasn't much extra context, apologies!
