Oil in Airbox - not overfilled
Hi all,
I discovered oil in my airbox today. All research and forum posts point to overfilling the oil tank but when I measure the oil level (warm engine, running idle, level surface), I am actually on the lower side. For additional context, I've also been struggling with intermittent loss of power and an excessive engine shudder. Anyone have any idea how I am getting oil in the airbox? Could worn rings and blowby cause this? I've never seen any smoke. Thanks in advance! |

According to your profile car is an 83 SC
What oil type are you running? Is there a restrictor in your vent tube from oil tank? CIS? Or modified? |

Thanks for the response - apologies for failing to provide that context.
Stock CIS configuration. Unsure on current oil it is running, had a shop do a quick tune up when I purchased it and was about to drive 16 hours home. I am coming up on the next oil change and will likely run with the factory spec. Also unsure if there is a restrictor in the oil tank vent tube, is there an easy way to check? hmm - that wasn't much extra context, apologies! |
