My Ruf Tribute 911

Hello, My name is Igor. I've been on this forum for a long time but have never posted my Porsche for a reason. My first project that I bought in 2015 was a stripped 68 912 roller that I wanted to build into a 911R tribute but never got around to it because I bought a more complete ex track car IRoc 86 Carrera in 2017. It too was a roller but had alot of the bits I would have wanted to upgrade to so it was perfect. I eventually bought a disassembled 3.6 that I was going to put into however that too never came to fruition and I sold it because I bought the car you see here.

This vehicle is a factory slicktop Euro Spec 84 Carrera with 45K miles with optioned sport seats and a transmission cooler. Original color was black but at some point in its life it was repainted to Silver Metallic which is perfect because had it been any other color I would have been repainting it to Metallic Silver. As you can see the car has been fitted with Speedline Ruf wheels, Ruf bumpers, mirrors, and a whale tail. Ill admit I wasnt a huge fan of the aesthetics at first because I envisioned my 911 a bit different but it has definitely grown on me to where I now love it!

The PO I bought it from in the Seattle area in August imported it from Japan in 2016 and barely drove the car. He claims he drove it only about 1k miles in his 5 year ownership which I have already tripled that in the last 4 months I've owned it. When I bought it, it had a rough idle so I had it taken to our PNW legend John Walker who found it to be just a torn intake gasket. I've had him perform some necessary maintenance (new chain tensioners, valve adjustment, gaskets, fluids change, etc) and now it runs like a champ!

I have since transplanted the goodies from my ex track car before I sold it so it now has a wevo shifter, uprated torsion bars, larger swaybars, Bilstein Sports, Turbo Tie rods, new brakes, etc and have had it it lowered, aligned, and corner balanced here at Patrick Motorsports in Phoenix. The color palette for my livery has been tossed around in my head for years and now I finally got to apply it. It's been a dream come true!

I'm all spent at the moment and have other priorities so it will sit like this for a while. The motor is currently stock but is alittle bit quicker with the high comp euro pistons but I plan to run true headers, a sports exhaust, machined TB with a chip from Steve Wong when I can throw more money at it again. I also have plans to redo the stock interior to my liking in the future. Im looking forward to doing it all!

Anyways enough of the intro and on to some pics!

Nice...maybe I'll see your car here some Saturday...

I have an '83 ROW I've messed with a bit. Do you use any Indy shop in the Phx area?

Thanks guys! I actually attended my first Porsche cars & coffee at Fourtillfour this past Saturday. I've previously attended a few times for 80s/90s Euro/JDM on my 190e.
So far the only work I've had done has been the alignment and Corner balance at Patrick Motorsports. I found another gentleman who I may take it to in the future for work but havent needed anything yet.

Nice...

Euro 3.2 slick top with a little fluid cooler for the 915, very nice. A few engine performance tweaks along with the lighter chassis bits should make for a fun platform. The Ruf rims look great on later G series cars.

I think you will be happier with a NA 3.2 versus a turbo. The few early turbo cars I’ve driven had a downright scary power delivery - a pig until boost builds then a near runaway, kind of a Jekyll and Hyde personality, definitely an acquired taste!

Enjoy the drive, an air cooled 911 is a special car that one can actually drive and enjoy.

I need an alignment ...what did they charge? Look at Stuttgart SW for a shop...Jack is a great guy.
I was going to go to the first Sat Porsche cars/coffee but had something come up...I'm in Wickenburg so a bit of a drive....looks like a nice event.

Thanks Pelican, and thanks Mauricio. Hope you and the Posse are doing well!
Yeah I'm an NA kind of guy. I perfer linear power and tbh the factory 231hp is plenty to zip around. Can't imagine what another 30 would do with the planned mods. I did put the car on a minor diet and dropped about 40-50lbs already.

As great as the Speedline wheels are, they are heavy as a boat anchor. That’s a lot of unsprung weight you’re carrying. Try 8 and 9 fuchs out you’ll never go back to the speed lines.

Really lovely car but the yellow stripe throws it off, looks almost like a band-aid.

I believe you. I may get a spare set sometime in the future, possibly some meaty 15’s but for now they’ll stay. Hard to be a Ruf tribute without Ruf wheels

Thanks! I’m sure it’s not everyone’s liking but I love it! Next time I might go even wider on the band!
