Hershey is AWSOME!
I'm sitting in my hotel room, putting on dry shoes, resting.
The swap meet was awsome. Some real bargaings (some out of line prices too). Came with and empty truck, going back with a full one. Met a bunch pelicans, swaped a bunch of parts. Never seen so many Porsches in one spot, gotta bring mine next year. Can't wait for next year!!!!

Fortunately, had the golf umbrella. They had several items I needed. Nice vintage display also. (Over where the voting was held).

It was my first, so I didn't quite know what to expect, but I just happily unloaded a set of fairly clean seats. Original upholstery. One with power controls, one without. $75.00 total... I later passed on pairs, in black, not powered, mildly ratty for $20.00 each. Even later, pairs of ratty, but not horrible 911 seats for $5.00!!!
On a related note though, I also ran into a pair of leather clad, I believe, "sport seats" which were reported to have came out of an early turbo car, around 76 or so, they thought. The side bolsters were approximately 7-8" deep. The bolsters on the bottom were also very pronounced. Any pictures out there of what these may be? Anyway, they insisted on me "making an offer" and were insulted by my offer of, lol, $150.00... He told me he needed at least $600.00, which sounds quite fair. Anyone know a fair market value for this sort of seat?

Whoopsadaisey...
I just searched the forum and now realize that these seats are worth around 2-3 thousand, in good condition. The ones at the show should be reupholstered. Let's call that $1000.00, but rather less for me since I own an upholstery shop, lol. Regardless, the seats were certainly a steal at $600.00, I suppose...

Where were all the Pelicanheads today? There were 10+ of us from NoVa who caravaned up this morning but we only managed to find 2 other P-Heads.
Next year there needs to be a Pelican Parts booth! Only one word adequately describes today: WET. Despite the weather I had a great time and enjoyed searching for the bargains. I'll be starting my list soon for next year ...

I had fun just watching guys haggle over prices. One seller wanted ten dollars for two doors!! The buyer said, " I'll give you five."
![]() Did anybody get a pic of the silver 356 with rear flares?

Lu and I had a great time at Hershey. We spent Friday evening there and met up with lots of great Pelican-heads at the Bear's Den. It's great to now be able to put faces to the names I see here on the BBS. Thanks Steve (Old Goat) for organizing this!
As everyone pointed out already, Saturday was WET. We were fortunate to find some things that we (OK, I) wanted for the 73E (e.g. turbo tie rods, real good sunvisors, oil lines for the front cooler project, etc.). Lu's already put me on notice that next year we're staying the weekend. Something about chocolate...

I just wanted to thank all of you who were able to join us at the Bear's Den on Friday night. If anyone has pictures please post. What a great bunch of guys (and girls), I can't wait for next year. Saturday was, well wet, but a dry pair of socks made the drive home much more pleasant. Next year I will try to get a better handle on how many people will be joining us on Friday night and reserve space. Hope everyone made it home OK. Thanks again, Steve

It is one of the telling strengths of our community. . . that when it is pi$$ing down rain thousands of people come out for such an activity. . . and I did not detect a single bad attitude in the entire group. We had a great time and I was able to score a few items, notably a new MFI airbox with integral brass cold-start mechanism (no more Ether. . . )

My first time , I was amazed how many PORSCHEs there were! And the enthusiast looking for parts and friends... weather was WET !!! I would have stayed all day if it would have been sunny.Had enough when I was wet to my knees...
I was hoping to see more new part sales people.Of course their prices would not have been the same. John Helgesen , thanks for the calipers! e k i |
