Name This Part
Hi all, I'm just digging into a new-to-me 1980 SC and starting with the basic. Have the idle and timing set and now looking to sort out various surges that are still occurring at idle. I can spot 2 likely culprits, the first is what I would assume is a vacuum assembly sitting on a bracket mounted over the top of cylinder 3. I cannot find this part in the Service Manual or in any PET diagrams, so turning to the Pelican experts for some guidance on what this is and what it should be connected to.
https://1drv.ms/u/s!AkXdspoXrvdVxp5n...Qi4RQ?e=KEtxpn The second issue is simply an open port on the air cleaner assembly. From what I can tell there is simply supposed to be a plug here, and it's missing. Plus doesn't seem to be available any longer, so I'm planning to just put a generic vacuum plug over it. https://1drv.ms/u/s!AkXdspoXrvdVxp5ovaoWvAlRRlsyCA thanks! Larry |
It’s a bit strange that the item isn’t in PET, could you take a picture?

US or a euro car?

Yes, there were photos in the original post (wrapped in [IMG] tags) but they don't seem to be appearing.

Not sure but I think the nipple on the air cleaner box is for the charcoal canister.
Don't know what the vacuum switch is for. |
That part is the thermovalve. It closes off vacuum to the lower chamber of the WUR for about the first 30 seconds during startup when temps are under 20C so that there is additional enrichment for starting.

You can simply plug the air box opening....the other is a working part of the CIS.
