$20 for a squeak !
I got a 964 C4 engine on a stand because a broken head stud was found some time ago. The car has been mostly parked since then. However, there is a squeak while the engine is idling and it is not a belt squeak even though it does sound like a belt. Best I could do was to identify that it was coming from bank 1 under the car.
Well, bank 1, cylinder 1 has one missing head stud. The squeak could not be replicated by turning the engine so ... further disassembly hopefully will tell what is squeaking. $20 for the winning guess of what the squeak is.

My guess: Combustion gasses escaping past the head seal on ignition.
