2002 Carrera C2 - Backup Lights not working

I am trying to rectify my issue with the backup lights on my Carrera - 2002. I read forums related to the switch on the transmission and replaced it with a new Porsche switch. The light bulbs are good - tested them with a battery. Fuse and relay are good.
When replacing the switch I checked the leads and it appears that I am not getting power to the leads at the switch. Crossed them over with ignition switch on and checked with test meter - no power.
Is there an issue I am missing or is it a wire broken or disconnected somewhere? I am not sure how to proceed.

This forum is for air-cooled 911’s up 1989; you may have better luck posting your question on the 996 forum.

Basic electronics says if the bulb is good (and it’s the correct bulb) and fuse/relay is good, but no power to switch, you have a broken wire somewhere or you have a bad ground connection. Check to see if other bulbs around the car are conventional filament bulbs or LED’s. My experience is you get some bizarre glitches when LED’s are mixed with conventional bulbs.

Good luck.

Bruce - Good point. I am new to the Forum and missed the distinction in the forums and will post on the 996 forum.

Thank you
