997 airbag rear for heavy load
I just bought an '06 997. I want to do drives with the family, wife and my two teen girls. The girls don't mind the rear of my '79 SC for drives so good there.. But I imagine with the four of us and four bikes on the back (it's getting a hitch) she might ride low.
Is there airbag assist suspension anyone has ever tried to add to a 911? Thanks, Adam |

Wow, are you going to have the luggage for a wife and two teenage girls shipped to the destination?
I go on trips with my wife, and with just the two of us we pack my 85 911 to the hilt, and the back seats area is where the biggest suitcase goes. ![]() This is just for the two of us. I can't even imagine how you will fit the luggage for the girls in your car much else for your wife and you.

Whooooow. Just hold on everybody. I'm adventurous, not ****ing insane. I'm not going on a multi-hour over night road trip with my wife and two teenage girls in a 911.
My girls like riding in the back of the 911 and have done it for like 35 minutes. I'm pretty sure once we cross the 60 minute mark the fun is over. Let me restate my question. I would like to take my wife and two girls, our four bikes, a single backpack (with exactly four sandwiches two apples and four bottle of water) to destinations that are about an hour away. I imagine with two kids she will be sagging a bit in the rear. I also think the car is going to ride low. Has anyone ever put in assist airbag springs in a 997 suspension? |

Pick the right tool for the job.....
Four people, four bikes, and a back pack.....the 911 is not the right tool.....

You don't sound fun.
These guys look like fun. The guy with the roof tent takes his wife and large dog on camping tips all up and down the CA coast. The guy with the roof carrier drove his across several continents in a single year. |

Back before SUV's people used to do this type of stuff in their 35hp VW bug's every Saturday.

Thanks ian, My interest is simply to not have the suspension bottom out on entrances, speed bumps etc. I have a feeling I am going to have to be a trail blazer here.

Weigh your daughters , weigh your bikes , find a friend Or 2 equal to the sum and squeeze them in the back for a trial run .
I don’t think you’ll have an issue with the weight ..... I’d look at the factory roof system before I fitted a tow hook and see if it can be modified to fit 4 bikes .... There’s one in the classifieds right now , with comments about there still being opc supply . Another alternative is vacuum type racks https://www.vacuumrack.com/us/vacuum-suctioncup-ski-rack-bike-rack-roof-rack-roof-carrier-crossbar-for-tesla-bmw-porsche-ferrari-jaguar-audi-mercedes-electric-car ![]() ![]() Last edited by ian c2; 01-19-2021 at 08:12 AM.. |

Ok cool, I'll do some test runs when it arrives next week and go from there.
I was planning on the factory rack. |
