Might get another look at it tomorrow but have other plans for later in the day.
Gooo Georgia! |
If the bolts won't go in all of the way, and the wheels are now locked up, you may be using the wrong length bolt, as in too long.

Got it all sorted and back together today. Pulling the stub axle was not difficult. The broken piece came right out.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1638848831.jpg

Torqued up the drive axles today and took her for the first drive in 11 months. Engine starts immediately and idles smoothly. A couple of small issues to adjust but overall really happy. No leaks so far. Now to get that AFR gauge working….

So far loving my new M&K 27ST 2 in 1 out. Only put about 5 miles on it so far. After I drive it for a month I will do a separate review. It’s definitely not too loud which is what I was looking for. Now to clean up the mess I have left in my garage. Once I get the AFR set up and the car tuned I’m going to drive it for awhile, new tires, then think about a suspension refresh. Sway bars, shocks and new rubber bits. Another box to check is to drive it to one of the big Pcar gathering. Porsche Parade, Luftkegult or the like. All in good fun. |
Great accomplishment
Great job Funracer !
Congrats. I read thru most of this thread and there were several things that were good for me to hear. I pulled my Carrera engine and trans in early winter (northern hemisphere) and am preparing for the re-install. This is not my first air cooled, and I've always had one around since 1986 ..... But, this is the first time I've pulled an engine. Thanks for the thread !! Mark |
