Am I asking too much?
Guys and gals,
I've had the little soft window roller link to ad up for sale for a while now and have dropped the price to $1250. There has been some interest, but no takers. Am I fooling myself in thinking the car is worth that much. I'd like to get some of your opinions. Thanks, Mark |

Too expensive Mark... just give it to me for free... I may take it..
![]() Seriously.. I think the price is right.. if I just had the money I will take it.. a soft window does not come by every day. By the way did you got your other car back from the A/C upgrade?

I think it's worth that much -- but there's a very small pool of buyers with the resources and the vision to put together a soft window Targa from that point.

i think it is location...
price is right...maybe even too low...like I said the rear window parts are worth that much alone... I think if you work out some numbers for shipping costs...you may fair better... have you tried contacting your local PCA/POC chapter? maybe there will be some oldtimer who wants to restore that car... good luck |

Mark,
I'm interested. Let me run it past my wife and inlaws (they have the barn I could use for storage) Is $500 a reasonable estimate for transportation to New England?

I'd part it out.
From the description and pictures in your ad, I think you need a real optimist willing to part with at least $15,000 for repairs, paint, etc. Good luck.

Mark...I've been looking at your car a number of times and I have a collection of stock 71T targa parts from mine that is being converted to a RS/cab which would come in handy for the restoration...the one thing that's stopping me is freight which would be around $1200 thru DAS who I've used before...before even putting a wrench on it I've already got $2500 into it...hmmm...still thinking about it though. What's the drop dead date for it to be moved? I may have another brainstorm.

Thanks for the replies. The shipping is a significant hurdle. That's the main reason I'm not taking it to Seattle. Shipping cost from Dallas will be between $600 and $1200 to either coast. I need to move it in the next couple of weeks so I can get the house on the market.

can't you just include it with the house and mark up the price for that by $1K? Kinda like a fixture or applicance:
"oh, and here's the den, there's the kitchen with stainless steel appliances, and here is the garage with new water heater and '71 soft window targa roller" |

are you really a doctor?
if so, donate the car to the salvation army and get a tax break..What does Bruce Anderson say about the value of this type of vehicle?

Just rent a car hauler and tow it behind the Uhaul. We'd have a blast spending your money and drinking your beer while offering worthless advice and trying to help restore it
![]() Seriously, if it's not too late try an ad in Hemmings, it seems to be a good spot for projects.

If I had a garage, and $1250, it would be seriously tempting!
(But then I think the only thing cooler than a coupe is a soft window targa.) |

I'm along with all of the other dreamers, shipping and $$'s is the issue. I have some family in San Antonio and am seeing if someone can put this in a barn or something for me until the Navy gives me some time to deal with it......May end up being too hard, but I'm thinking.

Remember when I bought it, a friend suggested I set it by the pool and make it a planter. I'm thinkin yardart ![]() Seriously though, if it doesn't sell, I'm thinking again of stripping the parts for a future backdate project. An SC soft window targa with backdated sheet metal would be hella lights, er, jet fokken kool, er hella schweet... Ah hell, I'm too old, where's that sheep?
