Import tag, driver side door frame
My car has this tag in the door frame. It shows a name of a person and their city, in the US, as well as the vin. Its a world car that went to the US originally. Anyone else have one or know why Porsche would put them on? Its an 83 Cab but says made in 84. Vin decodes for what it is

There are many versions of that tag, supplied by as many outfits that admitted the imports. It was definitely not applied by Porsche. A state DMV may have provided the tag. The city marked on the tag would provide a strong clue. This would have been a used car when imported.

Thanks. I didnt think it was factory because of the pop rivets but it looks official as though it was sent by Porsche. Tag says Lynwood N.C. which doesnt show on google maps in North Carolina.
There is a Lynwood in California. I cant think of anywhere else that N.C. is a short form for. There was a real grey market surge back in the 80's Could this be a product of that? Last edited by AlKidd; 02-01-2021 at 11:18 AM.. |

That would be WP0, numeral not letter, but the ZZZ is what drives them nuts because that means it is not North American vehicle.

A human at the MTO told me the solution, in Ontario, is to get the VIN flagged as an exception, and it shouldnt happen again. |
