New Porsche Tool Reference Site

Hello Everyone, I would like to introduce you to a website I created for this Porsche Hobby of ours:

https://www.OriginalPorscheTOOLS.com/

Landing Page:

I have been working on this for well over one year, and it is now live.

The purpose of this site is to memorialize information for future enthusiasts to use as a guide for their own hobby. Many people helped me with this website, both directly and indirectly. I had a lot of help from members from the Porsche356Registry, Early911SRegistry, some well known posters on this site M.O. and others who have helped me expand my knowledge.

I learned from many people on different forums. If there is a photo of yours I posted on the site, first, I apologize for not asking you first. If you would like photo credit or a watermark added with your name, please let me know. If you would like the photo removed, also please let me know by PM so that I can address your concerns privately and not in a public forum. In most cases, photos are just "place holders" until I find a suitable replacement.

Table of contents page found for each model and sub-model when applicable:

Collection of Kits (these will all be scrutinized soon to list what is known to be accurate for the kit, or reproduction, mostly in older kits, or additional items that do not belong)

Details of tools according to model (you are able to toggle between pages to see what came "previous year" or "next year" from the page you are looking at)
74-75 screwdrivers:

77-89 screwdrivers:

Other tools:

959 Tool Kits:

Other Items like Key Fobs:

Floor Jacks:

Owners Manual (for 356's... if someone wants to start helping me gather clear overhead photos of 911 manuals, I would start to add those as well):

All are invited to subscribe to the website to get updates. This is not "my" website, this is a website I hope that we, as a community, build together. If you find errors, by all means, let me know. All constructive criticism is welcomed and appreciated.

Please let me know if there are any "dead links", Where possible, I posted references in pdf format, or links, and/or quotes from different resources. Again, I am not an authority, I am just one of those few Porschephiles who has had the privilege to own many different model Porsches and wanted to unify all this knowledge into one space.

Please Note any link that says "DEMO" is a link that has not yet been reviewed by an authority... here you will be able to see the process, I start by entering items by my own observation and research, and then I have multiple people review. This makes the process more thorough.

I will respond to all PM’s and emails on weekends. I have a list of edits to make and I will be making them systematically, in order that they have appeared. The only exception being is if someone has a need to make edits by phone and has little time to do so, I will accommodate them in real-time the best I can, that way we do not lose anyone’s enthusiasm.

On schedule:
(1) Ongoing - Photo removals, they are being done is a priority
(2) Ongoing - Watermarking photos for people that requested it or credit near the photo
(3) Ongoing - Figuring out how to make this an “open source” website
(4) 356 Carrera kits update to “complete” tools and what is real/repro or other… I will slowly do this for all “complete” kits section. There is a note before you click on each of these sections saying the same
(5) 912 kit addition
(6) Early Pre-A 356 revision

Currently, the website is not optimized for Mobile devices, but you can still use it that way, as many pages work, but this will be updated by April.

I have received some PM’s from other forums asking me about their own kits, I am not an authority, but I can help out. The website should have all that information and more, and I am more than willing to help people navigate it… it might also help reveal possible problems with the site that I will need to address.

Don't forget to subscribe to the website, you will receive timely updates to changes or additions. Your data will not be shared under my tenure.

Please keep this fun for everyone, and ENJOY!!

Sincerely,

Benjamin Abraham

Good info - but wonder how long you'll be able to retain that url. The mother company has lawyers....

Love the concept and info. Since this is still new you may want to reconsider the use of the name Porsche in the website’s name and URL. Renn, Werks, German, Stuttgart, Autobahn, air cooled, flat six, and other non trademarked words could be considered instead and the audience would still know what they are diving into.

Thank you both for the idea.... I already secured several including: www.356to911TOOLS.com

I will activate the link (It will take 3 business days) and leave both up.... Thanks for the great idea!

Hello Benjamin. Can you provide an update on your 356 and 911 tool website? A fantastic reference, but I see it is presently password protected.

Thank you!

It wasn't password-protected a couple of months ago. I wonder if the trademark attorneys finally sent Benjamin a letter.

If that was the case then Eric Cherneffs site (link below) would be down as well, and it's not, and it's been up for a very long time. Ben has different websites that point to his main site anyway, and they don't say Porsche in the website name.

Eric Cherneffs site:
https://www.356tools.com/index.htm

Bens alternate site:
http://www.356to911tools.com/

Just my .02, and I could very well be wrong....I didn't stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night...

edit: Eric Cherneffs site I believe is based in Canada and that may be important...

Hello Everyone,

I wanted to address why the tool website has been down. Over the years, I’ve worked hard to make this the most complete reference for Porsche tools from 1949 to 1998 and beyond, covering some Supercars as well. My vision was to continue improving the site, and with the help of user donations, I had hoped to hire a web designer or content manager to make necessary updates.

However, in the last four years, no donations have been received. Maintaining and updating the site has therefore fallen entirely on me, and due to time constraints, I have had to temporarily pause the website while I reassess its structure and work on reducing errors and outdated content.

As I am only one person, I cannot manage all aspects of the site and keep it fully up to date on my own. In the meantime, I’m happy to answer simple questions. If you have inquiries about your personal tool kit, please send me a photo of the tools laid out on your tool bag, which will help us both save time.

Looking ahead, I plan to relaunch the website with a new subscription model for in-depth information, while still offering free access to basic details. Donations will be optional but appreciated to help sustain the site.

Thank you for your understanding, and I look forward to reopening soon.

Best regards, Benjamin
