Missing Repair panel, late long hood
Hey guys,
some of you might have read in another thread that I’m trying to correct a less than perfect repair of the front panel on my '73 911t. Disregarding some other problems I’m missing a panel completely. I colored the panel green in the picture below (not my car!). ![]() The missing panel is not listed in the Porsche parts catalogue. I contacted multiple parts suppliers but no one was able to tell me where to get that part. It does not look hard to remake by hand but I would like some more info first. I do not know if it’s a small panel or if the pictures shows only the „tip of the iceberg“. Hoping you guys can help me! Regards, Andreas |

Can you show a picture of your car with the missing panel?

Your car doesn't look like it's missing anything, to me.

Hi Jonny, you can clearly see that the green panel in the first picture is not present on my car.
On my car the front panel has been replaced by a body shop due to rust. Unfortunately they botched the job by welding it in the wrong place (the hood latch cannot be adjusted enough to compensate). I will cut the panel out and of course try to do it properly. I want to achieve a look that is as close to original as possible. |

The area you show in green is part of the inner fender. There is a second piece that is spot welded in place that finishes out the radius and that part of the latch panel.
Watch this video from Restoration Design and it may help. You are correct in that you have had some work there, but not sure how far you want to go in... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Li9mWNiXHs

65-68 inner fenders are different than 69-73 according to the RD website, so maybe that explains the difference between the orange car and brown car (73).
Andreas, I don't see anything that needs fixing on your car. I haven't looked at your other threads however.

OK, checked the other thread.... yeah, seems like you have some work to do.
My advice to everyone is always this - assemble the WHOLE car, latches and all, and get the panels aligned before firing up the welder!

The part link that Jamie shows is the area I have circled in black. It sits in the recess area in the inner fender image I showed above and finishes off the radius.

Good advice! Wish I would at least have checked the body shop's work before getting the car painted. Without the latches everything did align perfectly... |
