Wrench for engine oil line?

My 1972 911T is leaking oil from the long line that connects the oil console (right rear fender well) to the bottom of the engine (left engine bank area between the oil return tubes). The left heat exchanger makes access to the 36mm nut difficult. Is there a specially shaped off-set thin-walled 12pt wrench for this job, or some other method? Please tell me I don't need to remove the heat exchanger. Thanks in advance.

Not familiar with the setup, but I do have a very thin bicycle 36mm wrench in my tools for the 911 oil lines

They have, or used to have, because I have a metric set.

You may need to remove the heat exchanger and that oil return tube close to that connection. I believe there is a crushable washer so don’t forget to replace that. Careful not to remove the portion going into the case.

Yes, there is a special wrench. Our host sells a variety of them. I use this one:

Yes, you do have to remove the left heat exchanger. Even with this special wrench.

Now that tool would have been handy and cheaper than what I put together for these oil line jobs!

Are you totally sure it's the oil line? I thought mine was leaking too but it was just where oil was dripping after leaking out of the triangle of death.

Thermostat, breather gasket and a couple other doodads that like to let go in a big way. Because they're up top they'll make a mess of everything that can be very misleading. If it's not totally clean and dry above the oil line I'd say that's the more likely culprit unless you recently did something with the oil line.

Clean up top. It’s the line.
