Please tell me I am crazy for thinking this?
There is something about this car that just keeps bringing me back to thinking about. I really want another 911.http://adcache.collectorcartraderonline.com/10/8/2/44097882.htm

You're not crazy at all. The 914/6 is proof that the 911 engine is so good, that it can even make a lawn mower perform like a sports car. And, that Fuchs wheels can dress up lawn equipment to appear almost Porsche-like!
![]() ![]() ![]() I dig that car too! They are beautiful in their ugliness. ![]()

They're funny-lookin', but very capable cars.

Sorry, I just called the guy and bought it.
Naw, just kiddin. someone did that joke to me last time I posted a question like this. Looks like a nice car and if you want to get into autocross, it would be a fun cone chaser.

That is a Very ugly car... BUT on the other hand if you slap
in a 2.7L 911 engine that thing will spank every turbo away on the track...... ! ! ! So it's kinda funny seeing this ugly car enter the track and blowing away the 911 turbos.. . .. . Then I guess you cannot really make fun of it after that..... |

*GASP* Believe it or not, I like my 914-6 conversion much more than my 911SC. With the 200HP 911 engine, it's a very different beast...

Once you put the flares on it, it improves the looks quite a bit... -Wayne

I couldn't see paying that kind of money for that car and then bring it on the track?

Spank every turbo? Pretty boastful and assuming statement. I never make fun of any track car without knowing how deep the owners pockets are. You never know what is lurking in the engine bay, or better yet who is behind the wheel.

anyone see the new Excellence article with the twin turbo 914 with a horizontal cooling fan? very very cool with sick power/wt ratio.

I love the idea (mid-engine, simple, lightweight, two seater) of a 3ltr 914 with Ferrari munching track ability, but visually (like Bill) they shock me every time I look at them

Interesting post.... and even more interesting were everyones' responses. Everyone has their opinion I guess. For me, I think this is a great looking car... especially the color. You don't see many white 914-6's. I guess with 914-6's you either love 'em or you hate 'em.
I've also seen it a couple of times wishing I had a spare $15k sitting around... which is a good deal for a nice stock 914-6 like this. I'd have this thing in auto-x/track trim so quickly, it'd make your head spin. These are incredibly fun cars to drive, and the sound (with the flat six behind your head) has to be heard. I like their "checkered" history... not a real Porsche (NARP) some would think, yet so much about it is Porsche... who cares that VW helped build them? They were still wholely designed by Porsche (I'm pretty sure). I think they are very capable cars, but a well set-up 911 is not going to be spanked by one of these... sorry, not on the track, not on an auto-x course. I agree with Wayne, that flares only improve the looks of this vehicle. Bottom line with me. If I had enough money to load 1/2 dozen of my dream cars into the garage, a really nice 914-6 would be one of them (along with a 69 Camaro Z-28, a BMW Isetta, etc). The twin supercharged Chevy powered 914 is certainly an exercise in engineering, but nothing I'm remotely interested in. Yet, the twin turbo charged 917 fan cooled 914 in the recent Excellence is intriguing.... but I'm not sure what I'd do with it. I like the fact that it still looks relatively stock, unlike the Chevy powered one. ![]()

My first Porsche was (is) a '74 914. Of course, it's changed significantly since I purchased it back in '85

I saw a yellow 914 at Hershey that looked stock... went over to check it out because it had 5 lug Fuchs on it... and noticed that the logos on the back said "914 5.7". It had a small block Chevy in the engine compartment, but it was a well done conversion. I wouldn't have noticed it if I hadn't been looking for it.
