Help to Identify this part

I have had this in my stash for a long time. Came in the Porsche bag shown. Bag was not sealed so may not be a Porsche part. Anyone have any idea what this is?

google image search didn't turn up anything. Might want to take a few pics on a clean neutral white background and use a few angles for image searches.

I've never seen anything like it on a 911 but I'm limited to LWB cars for something like this

It resembles a heater plenum or part thereof - - -from what I don’t know.
The plastic bag (if it’s 2 ft long) looks like the one a Mid-Year tool kit came factory sealed in.
Not sure what old OEM parts packaging would have looked like or if it had to do with the mystery part and if it’s New Old Stock.

The cylindrical device on the side looks like a bi-metallic spring housing. Might this be some kind of induction hot air valve?

It looks like something off a 356. Try posting the question on the 356 Forum too.
