What part is this?
Need some help identifying this 3 ended metal tubing piece on the back of the engine. This is a '79 engine.
As you can see in the second pic, there is some duct tape over it, not sure if it is to cover a crack or just to provide some insulation for the cover underneath it. Any ideas? ![]() ![]() |

Pipe from AAR and AAV to airbox for cold start.
Probably a hole worn in it looking at the top of the air deflector it was rubbing against for 40 odd years.

Thanks for the input!
I will peel off that duct tape and see if the pipe is not damaged. If it is only to protect the air deflector, I will wrap it up again ![]() |

I had a hole developing there. It was about 1/4" in diameter and all that was left was about a paper thin spot of material. It was so thin that I could "flap" it with my finger.
I JB welded a portion of a Swiffer handle over the hole. It had the right curve to suit the aluminum tube. It also appeared to be steel so I think it will last at least another 40 years. I am not afraid of any galvanic action since the epoxy sat between the 2 pieces. I also glued a piece of rubber between the tube and the part below to act as a cushion.
