'70 911 Dead Batteries

Hello, I've recently inherited a survivor 1970 911T. It was running, then sat for a few weeks & now the batteries are dead, and won't take a trickle charge. They are Interstate batteries that are marked 911 cca 300 & are from 2018. I've looked online & it seems Interstate no longer offers these batteries.

So, does anyone know what equivalent size/brand 12v batteries I can use?

Also, I've never dealt with a 2 battery system. Can you just install 1? If so, does it matter if its the driver's side one or the pass side?

Thanks, I'm new to the old Porcshe world.

1970 911T Dead Batteries, replacement options?

I've got a 911T with 2 dead batteries. They're Interstate & it seems that brand no longer offers this size/type. Does anyone know what brand/model # could be substituted?

Also, can you just run 1 battery instead of the 2? If so, does it matter which side you use, drivers vs passenger?

Thanks, I'm a Porsche newbie.

The Interstate MTP-T4 for Miata fits after trimming off the outer hold down tabs. Same dimensions. Supposedly O'Reillys 99extj fits also. I run one battery, driver side in my '69 with a 3.0 because the pass side box is gone for front cooler mounting. So far no issues. Cranks strong. Be sure to use the rubber insulator blocks on the positive post.

Thanks for the info. Not sure what the rubber insulator blocks on the positive post are tho. Do you happen to have a pic perhaps?

An Odyssey PC680 should do you, you just need to figure out mounting. Some threads that may be of interest:

I have a single red top optima on the side for years. No issues.

Lots of threads on the topic. Some good reading:

Still questioning about batteries - why not to go with standard ?

You MAY be able to bring them back. Check water level in the cells. Find an old school charger that has an analog meter. Charge at top charge level for 20 minutes, then low. Alternate charge level 4 or 5 times. I've brought my than a few with this trick.

Before shelling out for one or two new batteries, have the existing batteries inspected by the local auto parts or battery store. Even discharged, they should be able to determine the ability of a storage battery to hold a charge. On a budget? Many Interstate battery stores have a wall of good, pre-owned batteries at a fraction of retail, exchange units from customers who were too quick to pull the trigger.
