How to correct door knock

I've heard there is a way to correct the annoying door knock that some 911/912s develop over the years. My passenger door opens beautifully and closes with the Porsche ping.
The driver side opens with a knock or clack but otherwise looks (gaps/lines) just fine. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

you need to identify if the problem is the door sheetmetal torn out or if it just the pin on the body side. or both
