i've done a search here and somebody else has had this problem. knob turns but door won't open. previous threads stop short of an answer other than hammer or drilling out bolts on the bottom. anyone successful in slipping the cathchs on the locks? thanks.

Turn the knob and use an old credit card to slip in.....that should pop it....

Yep, a credit card will do it. If you can cut it into a hook shape and trip the latch from behind it's even easier.

what happens is the spring loaded plastic tit that catches on the edge of the hole, seperates from the latch, and remains spring loaded in the outward position. you need to break off the knob by twisting hard with whatever tool you have that will get a grip on it. (it's already broken, so you're not hurting anything more). first grab the edge of the plastic knob cover and pry it off, leaving the metal base knob. visegrip it and twist in either direction until it breaks, and pull it out. use a pocket screwdriver, or pointed tool to reach in and slide the plastic catch inward. voila!
