SC Jack placement
Hey all….
In my quest to get the car back to a point of “with most of the original stuff” (without going broke, and not really caring about concours) - I picked up a repro-jack. Unfortunately I do not know how this jack is supposed to be stored in the “frunk” and the jack does not seem to really fit how I would “expect” it to. There is a bracket welded in the front bulkhead, and I believe that the base is supposed to fit inside there - and then you hold it in place with the little rubber strap. I cannot seem to get any better pictures in a cursory search, so I snapped a couple of what I am working with. ![]() ![]() Shall there be modifications made to the jack? Or maybe I am missing *yet another* part?

I went thru the same exercise 20 years ago, before you could find the rubber strap in the after-market. Or before I knew what I needed, (you don't know what you don't know).
I think the base of your jack is in the correct position, and that tells you where the other end goes. I secured mine with a rag (for vibration) the queen mother of all zip ties. |

I have the little strap — but I am indeed missing the rubber block. I am hesitant to ask, but I am sure that this part is offered (by pelican, *maybe*) out there… anyone have a part number for it? I can fab up a rubber bumper to slide into the base area, but it will not be wedge shaped like that.

I sure did not expect to actually see that in the parts catalog, but here it is:
911 721 131 00 Clamping piece (with adhesive backing) 911 721 131 01 Clamping piece (without adhesive backing) I can see some sources have the one with the adhesive available, but pelican doesn't. Pelican does have the one without the adhesive in stock. I can't believe those things are still available. |

After looking at your picture in the first post I went out to look in my trunk. I have the handle pointing straight down, not toward the tire. I do of course have the rubber block and the strap. I bet I have not had mine out of strap but twice in 27 years of ownership.
I carry a lot of other "stuff" like a can of fix a flat, a tire puncture kit, and a large trash bag to put an old dirty tire in. Also a some disposable painters overalls, rubber gloves, and of course the tools to remove the lug nuts, or the fan belt. Spare fan belts, hand towels, and hand cleaner. A funnel, a quart of oil and some paper towels. Space is a premium in a small vehicle. Pointing the handle straight down will make more room to carry "stuff" you may need.

I never knew there was a large base version. I don't think I have ever used my jack. I do have the jack plate that goes in the jack point for a floor jack. It has had a lot of use back before I got my scissor lift. Now my floor jack is rarely used, but I will put the 911 on the lift to wax it or do electrical work at a more comfortable level.
