Twin Turbo Header Design
Hey guys, I've officially started the project. I pulled the motor today, took some measurements, and came up with this design for the custom headers I will be making for the twin turbos. What do ya think?

It looks good, my only worry would be that it looks very close to the heads and there might be some heat transfer. Which is the cheapest CAD software I can get?

Where do you get your tubing from? It looks like it is in a tighter radius than I can get.

are you going to be able to adjust valves without pulling the exhaust manifolds?

Have you considered hanging them out back, 935 style?

Boost, I plan on making het shield to address heat soak issues. The cheapest CAD softwre you can get is free. The program I am using here is ProDeskTop Express, you can down load it at www.ptc.com. Blown, I am getting my tubing from SPD products 888/778-3312, they have a huge selection. The tubes you see are 2" CLR. Bell, I will have to drop the headers to adjust valves. Ohhh the price we pay for addictions. Axix, I did consider mounting them in the back. It just doesn't leave any room for exhaust. |

The design looks great. I'm jealous of your fabrication skills in putting the pipes together. I would suggest routing the pipes a little further out from the cyl. head area as IMONBOOST recommends (to reduce heat soak) and to make valve adjustment a little less service-intensive. Dropping the exhaust system means dealing with broken exhaust manifold studs. I also realize being an armchair designer is much easier than redrawing/redesigning, so take this with a grain of salt. To save time in fabricating an effective heat shield, provide about 1.25" of space in front of the valve cover for a set of these (commercial plug).
