How can I reach these 993 header nuts (on 964 case)
Im trying to remove my 993 headers to replace them with a set I purchased from William Knight. The hole on the 993 header to reach the barrel nut does not line up with the stud and is completely behind the header and I have no idea how to reach it or how my mechanic installed it. I cant even see the nut so there may not be one there. I'd appreciate any suggestions.

The nuts seem to be copper which is good news. Otherwise, you may have the whole rusted nut/stud issues. I would use a ratchet with various extensions and a swivel joint.

If you can't reach it with the combo mentioned above, it is special wrench time! Take a piece of stiff wire and bend it in the general direction(s) of what you would need to reach the nut and make a least (hopefully) 1/4 turns. Go buy a cheap box end wrench in the size you need. Clamp it in a vise an throw some heat and a hammer to it to match the wire. Been there, done that on several occasions with my build.
Good luck! |
JSA thank you for the idea I did exactly what you suggested with my torch, a vise and a large hammer and fabricated a wrench that would fit. Quarter turns at most finally got the last nut off! Thank you very much!
