Euromeister 17's - Before & After on 83SC

Replaced my 16 x 7's and 6's with the Euromeister 17 x 9's and 7's.

Running Bridgestone RE11A's - 255/40R17 rears, 225/45R17 fronts.

Balanced out well - but one wheel did take quite a bit of weight to get it true:

---------------------------------

Before - the 16 x7's didn't fill out the wheel wells...

After - the 17 x 9's look so much better.

Another angle:

Before

After

And a parting shot:

They look pretty sweet...

Gordo

Nice - Is your Carrera Targa lowered to euro-spec, any rubbing? Where did you get the 17" Euromeister wheels?

One thing to try would to turn the tire 180 deg. The tires also not perfect and it's possible that the heavy spot from the tire and wheel are at the same spot. Some tires have a colored dot, that indicates the light spot of the tire.

Just an idea.

I got 2 17x9 for the rear of my AX car, still running 16x 7.5 Borbett at front, however as soon some 16x8 EM's are available I will switch to them.

Did you just recently buy you wheels ? I don't see the 7x17 anywhere.

Cheers
Engelbert

Gordo,

That really looks great! I have been thinking about going from 16s to 17s myself and you're helping me make the decision. I really think the 17s were an improvement. Good choice!

+1 rotate the tire on the wheel, it should balance her right up.

Looks great! Now ya just gotta do something with that "ricey" exhaust tip

(brother to brother joke there guys)

For those asking, I don't want to advertise for someone else as I understand Pelican might be out of the wheels already but I did talk to another supplier who said they'd have ample amounts of them and didn't foresee any trouble in getting more in the future. I talked to them about 2 maybe 3 weeks ago before gordo got his wheels.

Euromeister Wheels

Thanks folks,

I picked up the Euromeister wheels here on Pelican - had them on order since ~ Oct when they were out of stock & just got them a few weeks ago.

The SC Targa ( yes - that's for you Cheekybird...) is lowered to Euro spec - still need to check for potential rub points (full stop turned left/right with suspension compressed), but none under normal driving.

I asked the tire place if they could spin the wheels before they mounted - the guy looked at me like I was cross eyed (I hate the place I go - but it's convenient). After they were mounted, I thought some amount of the imbalance could be attributed to the tire - but at that point they were on...

I also wondered what the point was behind the yellow dots - I wire brushed them off when I got them home from mounting, and didn't give it another thought... until now - oops.

Well I'm guessing that you did Google; "meaning of yellow dot on tire"

Hard to believe but a lot of garage have no clue what the yellow (and other color) dot mean

This combo looks amazing compared to stock. exactly what I was looking for. I will probably talk to the guy that polishes for me about polishing the face of the wheel to add some "pop" to it. Did you happen to weigh the factory set up vs. the new set up by chance?

On polishing - the pedals should polish up nice / easily. I was a bit surprised to find that the outer portion of the wheels ("lips") are a machined surface as opposed to smooth like the original Fuchs - would take quite a bit of sanding and polishing to buff them to a shine.

I didn't weigh them - but I've seen other threads where people have.

KBOUSTANI - that gold is simply stunning!

Here's some more photo's for those not search savvy... 17" Euromeister Pics on your car

So what are your measurement front and back at the fenders?

Mount the tire with the colored "dot" at the valve stem. A "red dot" takes precedence over a "yellow dot" if you've got both.

And at some point after instructing the guy mounting the tires of your desire with the dots, inevitably with directional tires the dot will be on the inside sidewall of the tire and he'll be puzzled until you take a piece of chalk and draw a line from the dot perpendicular to the tread to the other sidewall of the tire and tell him to line that up with the valve stem.

16 pieces of 1/4 oz. stick on lead is unacceptable and just plain lazy in my book. Like others have said, break it down and turn it on the wheel and try again.

Euromeister Wheels - Fender Rolling

Long drive to Ohio this past weekend and found my tires do in fact rub under certain circumstances (twisting through the WVa mountains and the driver's rear during hard launches...).

Slight roll of the fenders was required.
