Rigid brake line replacement questions.
Hey Ya'll!
Working on rebuilding the my brakes from front to back. Replacing all the soft and hard lines, master cylinder, and upgrading to the Brembo brakes that fit the 3" struts. I got the front lines and tunnel line in, but having a little hiccup with the rear. Can the line that goes from the splitter block to the driver side rear be replaced without removing the engine/transmission? I dont want to mess with touching it if it does and can just do that line at a later time. I've seen the question raised and discussion but no answer if it was successful. Can it just bend over the tranny and into position? Also, on the master cylinder on my '71 the electrical wires coming to it is two wires. The replacement master cylinder and the one that was on it that I removed only has one electrical tab. Which wire goes where? Is the warning switch in correct? I got an ATE replacement. thanks! I am in the middle of a full suspension and brake refresh. I have had this same question and my conclusion was that you could probably remove the hard line but putting in a new one without deforming (or destroying) it may be next to impossible. I have resigned myself to addressing that hard line when I next drop my engine.....
Now if someone can prove this to be wrong, I am very interested to learn what the "trick" is. Dennis

Dennis! Funny.. me too... the whole front suspension is off. Got the struts powercoated, new bushings, bearings, steering rack refurbished, new control arms, turbo tie rods...
This all started as just wanting to switch out to some Brembo's! |

I too PC'd a bunch of goodies. Finishing my struts (hopefully) tonight. I decided to go back with ATE calipers until I decide the true long term future of this girl. Refurbed (Tru6) hubs have the rotors/bearings/seals installed. I refurbed my steering rack, added RSR bushings, all new hardware and rubber parts. I installed new TB spring plates and covers too. Sounds like our 911's are going through very similar surgery!
I am looking to get many miles on her this summer, decide what my winter upgrade projects will be and then get ready to attend my first HCR next spring! Dennis
