what's more fun?

I'm getting ready to upgrade my 911 a bit and I was wondering...
what makes your P-car more fun to drive: upgraded suspension or more power??

Fix the loose nut behind the wheel first! Upgraded driving skills worked best for me. Go to a school and some DE's and then decide which way you want to go with mods. The stock Porsche is still an awesome machine when handled correctly.

Hello,

Certianly the most fun would be driver education. Spend $250 or so for a day at the local track. Check the local drivers clubs. As long as your car is safe to drive you will have a great time learning how to really drive a Porsche. If you were to o=upgrade the suspension right now you would not be able to tell the real differences unless you had the driving skills to do so. Not to say you cant drive. We all are great drivers! But just one day on the track will change your opinion on driving. Blasting through the Rocky Mountains will not do it. Chasing the Colorado early Sunday morning aint the same. Get on the track and then decide what you really want to fix/change on your Porsche.

It's all about braking and cornering for me. Nice tires and solid brakes are all you need.

For the experienced driver, handling uprades would be most appreciated. For the novice, the power upgrade is most satisfying.

Being a novice, I suppose, I went for power upgrades first. I enjoyed the process of rebuilding/hotrodding my engine, and I love the way my car howls and rockets around now. But in hindsight, now that I've had a little instruction, I gotta say I might choose differently now. Track time, tires and suspension mods might come first these days.

Unless you make drastic changes, horsepower is not going to change that much. Going from 180 to 195 hp is not going to snap your head back or anything. Go to the track if you want to understand the meaning of "fun to drive".

Join the local PCA and participate in the driver's skills day. Learn how to manage your car's potential in all driving situations. Advance yourself to autocross and track events after that. Have fun with what you have so that you can better appreciate the updates and modifications you will make in the future.

Smooth = speed so I'd go for the driving instruction and suspension.

Driving instruction also ads to the fun no matter what you are driving. Even my Chevy pick-up is more fun now.

Depends on which one your car needs the most. If your steering is sloppy, the car rides high in the front, and the shocks are shot, but the engine runs fine, then feed the suspension. On the other hand, if your car handles okay, but goes like a beetle, look into the engine. If both suspension and engine need help, then you need to fix both or the car won't be much fun half way.
