SC alternator wiring - extra wire
So I just removed my fan and fan housing to clean it up. When removing the wires on the back I have this extra spade connector that was not hooked to anything, but more so could have created an issue as it was jammed next to the VR. I checked the diagram and have the 2 red, 1 blue, and 3 brown. The only black wire shows it going from the alternator to the VR which leads me to believe it is internal. Why is this black spade connector in this bundle of wires? Where's Dennis? lol

Your car most likely had an external regulator at some point. They are internal to replacement alternators.
You'll probably be able to find and verify connectivity of that wire to the regulator on the electrical panel if it's still there.

Thanks Jonny, that looks like the case. The motor is a bit of a Frankenstein as it is a US spec, but has a Euro induction. I believe the harness matches the euro style as it has no connection to a brain. I wonder if euro versions had external VRs. I'll tape it up and leave it be.

Euros had external VR’s up to ‘81 just like US cars.
Tape it off if your alternator has an internal VR.
