Need alignment south of Boston...

Any suggestions? I am in Norwell and have used Conway Autowerks in the past but cant get a hold of him. Not too high on the guys from Stoughton and I dont want to drive too far in my car as I just replaced the entire front suspension and I'm not sure how far off the settings are.

I'd like to use a local indy before I call Porsche Norwell. they quoted me $250 for 4 wheel alignment.

thanks!!

Kenny did my alignment and corner balance last week. Highly recommend. Drove my car to Limerock and everything was perfect.

Thanks

I used Epe for my 4 wheel alignment. It's going to be more than 250, but it will be dead nuts.

Jerry is incredibly knowledgable and has been working on Porsches for 30 years.

No affiliation, just a satisfied customer.

thanks guys. I'll keep trying Kenny and will try to drive by the shop this week. I know EPE and have used Eurotech before as well. I think both are just a bit too far to attempt a drive with a potentially out of whack front end.

Not sure when you were last at Kenny's shop, but he moved to a new location in Hanover a couple years ago.

$250 is not bad for this service if your under a time constraint and its done right.
Never used P Norwell but had used EPE many years ago with no complaints.

Had no idea he had moved. Dropped in today and the new shop is pretty impressive.

I'm good to go.

hey storage man, I ended up having him do a handful of other tasks but his labor rate is $98 hr up from $85 a few years ago. With the alignment taking about 1.5-2hrs it was around $200 for using the string method and scales

Worth the effort to go to EPE because Jerry will do it right the first time.

String method?? At a professional Porsche shop? You're kidding, right?

It's not as primitive as it sounds. It's how race teams do it.

Maybe at the track but do you really think professional racers don't have a high end alignment machine in their shop? My race shop just upgraded to a very complex machine, and my shop is very small... strings? And charge $200?? Nah.

Considering Conway is a PCA tech, races a 964 Cup car himself and sets up many race cars each season I don't have an issue with his method. He uses a combination of strings and alignment HW as well. Mine is a stock street car.

He can use VooDoo dolls for all I care, but to do alignments without a machine and charge 100's of dollars for it? He use bathroom scales for the corner balance and charge $100's for that too?

I set my own cars with strings, camber gauges, scales and patience every time and prefer the results to those given me by professionals with all the fancy in the world. Kenny is a very knowledgable guy (and so is Jerry). Neither will lead you wrong.

Look at the specs on the new fancy Hunter (or whoever's) machine and you'll see that it is no more accurate than strings. It makes some things easier, like making sure the car is square, but it doesn't change the results at all.

Go look at an Indycar, Indylights, ALMS, or Grand Am car and they are all set up with strings, or lasers.
