Engine Mount Replacement Question

I have a 1982 911SC with about 45,000 miles that I've owned for a couple years. I've been working on improving the shifting, recently replacing all of the shifter bushings and installing a Seine gated shift kit. Those changes improved the shifting significantly but there are still some times when it is difficult to get into gear. I read worn engine and transmission mounts can also cause shifting issues and decided to replace those as well. I started to replace the engine mounts today and I believe my current engine mounts may not have been installed correctly. Upon removing the large center bolt I discovered there were two large washers (I believe the correct part name for these is mount disc) stacked on top of each other, positioned on the top of the engine mount. Having the two large washers stacked on top of the mount didn't make much sense to me so I referenced a parts diagram (see attached photo). If I'm interpreting the parts diagram correctly is appears there are supposed to be the two large washers but they should be situated on the top and bottom of engine mount rather than stacked together as mine were. The engine mount should basically be sandwiched in between the two large washers. Can someone please confirm for me that I am interpreting the parts diagram correctly and the large washers should be positioned at the top and bottom of the engine mount rather than stacked on top of each other as mine were. Thanks for any help with this.

Direction makes a difference too:

Engine mount washers

Install the washers to the engine mount in the "new" way as shown in that link for crisper shifting (but more motor vibration transmitted into the car).
